Dr Cameron Murray is an expert in environmental economics, corruption and property markets. As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Henry Halloran Trust at the University of Sydney, Cameron’s PHD on the economics of corruption reveals how endemic and emergent it is to the human condition, which explains so much of the Covid-19 response we are seeing around the world today.
Most startling about this interview was his game theory experiments testing and demonstrating corrupt behaviour emerging through social pressure and group/tribe dynamics. In conversation we analysed social conformity to lockdowns through the lens of his research findings.
I particularly enjoyed exploring the manipulation of groups and how politicians and other leaders take advantage of populations.

He publicly threw away a council ‘play ground closed’ sign to much applause but unfortunately QLD Police turned up on his doorstep the following morning and have now charged him with ‘stealing’ which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in jail.

Dr James Muecke AM is our 2020 Australian of the Year for his work as an eye surgeon over many decades restoring sight for thousands of people globally.
His non-profit organisation Sight For All educates both patients and opthalmic/optometric health practitioners in countries around the world and has seen a correlative rise of poor eye health with Type 2 Diabetes.
This led Dr Muecke to investigate the causal factors behind Type 2 Diabetes which he now considers to be a ‘largely preventable and potentially reversible man-made lifestyle disease’. He places the blame at the feet of insane consumption levels of fructose, with a secondary contributor industrial seed oils, causing inflammation and damage throughout bodily systems manifesting early and clearly in the delicate structure of the eye.

We had no planned topics for this ‘Why’ interview and I was genuinely surprised to hear Peter quickly move us onto the footing of Christianity and its role in the success of Commonwealth countries.
He educated and challenged me on concepts like ‘the rule of law’ which I thought I understood from my legal training. I did not understand.
