Canada: It's For Your Own Good

16min

Last night we reported on how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is ‘keeping Canada safe’ by freezing the bank accounts of people who are protesting in ways he does not approve of (watch at https://discernable.io/trudeau-keeps-canada-safe).

Tonight we take a dive into who the warring parties are – what are the truckers’ demands? What is their motivation? And who exactly is Trudeau and the many leaders like him? Why do they press their populations so hard with progressive kindness?

Herein is a lesson for us all. When voting, beware those who come claiming ‘salvation’. It’s only ever on their terms. Do not fear devils, fear men masquerading as angels:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” C.S. Lewis

Trudeau Keeps Canada Safe

20min

In what seems like hyperbole from a dystopian nightmare novel, Canada has declared it will freeze bank accounts (without court orders) and cancel the insurance of protestors who do not protest according to what the government deems a ‘legal’ protest.

The widening of Canada’s terrorism financial laws to control crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies in Canada will be PERMANENT and will not end at the conclusion of the Emergencies Act.

In a stunning display of double speak, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reassures Canadians that he will always support Canadian’s right to protest, to express their frustration and ‘anger’ even against the government, and that he will always defend their freedom of speech.

Microsoft: How to Woke

4min

Have you seen the new ‘intersectional’ introductions being embraced by Microsoft presenters? In November 2021 at Microsoft’s ‘Ignite’ conference, speakers began their presentations with a description of their race, gender, pronouns and physical appearance.

At first glance it appears to be an accessibility measure to assist the visually impaired but it turns out that is not why intersectionality is being encouraged at Microsoft.

Nic Fillingham from Microsoft (who appears in the video) directed the Washington Free Beacon Newspaper’s inquiries to an explanatory video claiming that stating your race and visual appearance before speaking will ‘help fight racism, sexism and classism’.

Lengthy land acknowledgements were included at Ignite, having come into vogue in previous decades at institutions. Stating gender pronouns have also gained popularity in recent years at institutions and are now taking off in the corporate world.

Discuss: 'Daniel Andrews Will Lose the Next Election'

1hr 31min

In this special episode of The People’s Project, Matt is joined by Dr Brendan Moloney from Parallel Movement, and Ken Phillips from Not Above The Law.

We gathered to consider the bold prediction: ‘Daniel Andrews Will Lose The Next Election’.

Along the way we examined:
1. corporate polling
2. our own internal Discernable polls
3. the political wind shifting in Victoria
4. the segmentation of voters and the failure of political parties to keep pace
5. the unethical segregation of society and deliberate division
6. the fall of the Rule of Law and why it must be restored
7. why Australians are protesting
8. court cases to fight for the integrity of the ‘system’
9. movements to disconnect from the ‘system’ altogether and start over.

In case you are wondering why my forehead is so swollen in this episode, it’s because a bee STUNG ME IN THE FACE! That was fun. I’m either bald and red headed fresh from surgery, or my stomach is hanging out of my shirt, or in this case my head is swollen like an alien. I think we’ve demonstrated what you get on Discernable might not always be pretty, but it’s authentic.

Ethical Policing in Victoria

The Discernable Interviews

Ethical Policing in Victoria

1 Hour 32 Minutes

8 October 2021

Acting Senior Sergeant Krystle Mitchell is a sworn member of the Victoria Police in Australia. She has served Victorians for 16 years as a police officer including 6 years at Professional Standards Command – the division responsible for investigating police misconduct, corruption, discrimination and freedom of information, referring investigations to the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) where appropriate.

Acting Senior Sergeant Mitchell cites ethical conflicts as the reason for speaking publicly about conduct of Victoria Police officers, their Chief Commissioner – Shane Patton, their Minister – the Hon. Lisa Neville MP, and ultimately their Premier – the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP. She feels she can no longer remain silent with the division between police and community is growing, and totally ignored by the leadership of both the police and government.

Despite a promise to focus on ‘Community Policing’ and ‘Back to Basics’ policing by Shane Patton, Acting Senior Sergeant Mitchell has witnessed the opposite trajectory during the Covid-19 pandemic and is reminding her colleagues that ultimately they will individually be held accountable for their actions, and are still subject to s 462A of the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic) which forbids the disproportionate use of force.

She is also calling for Victoria Police to remain consistent to the values, ethics and decision making frameworks (such as SELF) that it used to demand of its members a mere 2 years ago.

Retarded Ethics - Inability to Determine Right from Wrong

Retarded Ethics - Inability to Determine Right from Wrong

45min

How do you determine right from wrong? It’s a question of normative ethics. This is a critical conversation that nobody is having and yet it is critical as we approach a world full of vaccine passports, government mandates, segregation and a ‘new normal’.

Background:
After an Instagram scandal over whether the word ‘Retard’ can EVER be used, it raised an interesting point. Why are people arguing so fervently over the right thing to do?

Is it possible that we have different ways of measuring morality?

In this special on ethics, we look at the two main perspectives of answering this question: deontological ethics vs teleological ethics.

It gives rise to utilitarianism which explains exactly why and how authoritarian governments around the world are crushing populations in the quest to save them.

It also led to considerations around language, offence, Hollywood, The Trolley Problem, and autonomous driving.

Watch this special if you want a framework on which to hang all of those arguments you keep hearing about and how to find a way through the fray.

Respect the Health Advice - Keep Outdoor Playgrounds Closed

Respect the Health Advice - Keep Outdoor Playgrounds Closed

2min

An alarming number of messages, pictures and videos have been flooding in of parents disobeying the health advice of Victoria’s Chief Health Officer by cutting tape and restoring children’s access to outdoor playgrounds.

I note that it is a fineable offence to touch or otherwise use outdoor playground equipment, and that the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police has made it clear that his members will be patrolling parks and enforcing these health directions to keep us all safe.

By removing caution tape, cutting zip ties and restoring outdoor playground function you are effectively inciting children to break the law and perhaps more importantly – endangering us all by spreading the virus.

I cannot condemn it strongly enough. Respect the health advice, keep playground equipment taped up, and report any children playing on outdoor playgrounds to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or visit onlinereporting.police.vic.gov.au to lodge a report against those offending children.

We are all in this together Victoria, and with your assistance we can stop children from endangering everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve.
